As probably noticed, for those who clicked a bit through my portfolio or even read some blog entries, I prefer the vertical format.
The ideas that went into the mixer for this work: Africa, source of almost everything in terms of humans and art. African men, often stereotyped, blue jeans, figurative art, abstract art, a mind not wanting to “decide” yet keeping asking questions.
oil on stretched canvas. 35×70cm
I usually keep a work from exposure at least 1 year. The oil has to dry a bit better and I also don’t like parting with my “babies”. But all that had to change, our small flat became a art deposit.
One remark about the title being produced with an old fashion label maker and glued on top of the canvas: back in my younger days, many offices, hospitals etc had the information stored in files and filed into cabinets. Everything was labeled with the embossed plastic letters. In the eyes of a child, that was a sign of “everything is a file, a case, does that represent me?” - yes, I did feel that way, every time someone was pulling out my dossier.
P&P included
