Unique A4 drawing
As my subjects are, as one can see, men belonging to a certain subculture, often talked about is whispers outside the “safe space”, I want to show these men as I perceive them, as I like to interpret their rapports.
As a personal general rule, when I look at a work of art or listen to a music composition, I feel that there are 3 elements involved: 1) the observed, 2) the observer, and 3) the result of this interaction which, in happy moments becomes an entity on its own. The first 2 mentioned create with mutual help, a new work.
Back to what I have observed in the underdog world which I often represent in my works, is the same creation of a new entity. For instance, as this drawing sows, the man with an iron collar (the submissive, as called), the Dominant/Master/Owner but the touch between them, including the physical one as depicted, must not be disregarded.
I often saw the 2 men involved pleasing their needs, hedonistic ones. But I also felt (or like to imagine I did) a certain connection between them that goes beyond role playing. That connection begets the third “entity” I was trying to describe.
